Kirtan Lyrics

Kirtan is the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord and is one of the most powerful processes of bhakti-yoga. It purifies the heart and awakens one’s dormant love for Krishna. Through kirtan, devotees connect directly with the Supreme Lord by chanting His transcendental names.

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu propagated the sankirtan movement, encouraging everyone to chant and glorify Krishna without distinction. Kirtan transcends language, culture, and nationality, uniting people in spiritual harmony and joy.

The chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra—Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare—cleanses the mirror of the heart and frees one from material anxieties. Accompanied by traditional instruments such as the mridanga and kartals, kirtan creates an atmosphere of devotion, enthusiasm, and spiritual upliftment.

Whether performed in temples, homes, or public gatherings, kirtan nourishes faith, strengthens devotional relationships, and brings the practitioner closer to Krishna. It is both a spiritual practice and a joyful celebration of divine love, offering peace, happiness, and spiritual realization to all who participate.
